The scope of Departament of Virology includes:

  1. Scientific research
Concerns ethiopathogenesis of viral infections including the influence of viruses on: oncogenesis, pathology of cardiovascular system diseases, the respiratory and central nervous system infections, the foetal and perinatal infections, the impact of viral infections on immunossupression states and immunology of infections with hepatotropic viruses A, B, C (D). The other scientific works focus on the evaluation of population immunity to viral infections and research of viral susceptibility to inhibitors of replication as well. Moreover we conduct WHO programs regarding eradication of poliomyelitis and elimination of measles/rubella under accreditation of WHO.
  2. Payable activities
The payable activities include: current and referential diagnosis of viral infections (most of them are under PCA accreditation), control of viral vaccines, investigation of virucidal activity of disinfectants and antiseptics, and antiviral activity of interferons.
  3. Educational activity
Individual trainings in compliance with virological, molecular and serological methods and lectures to employees of sanitary inspection and the other health care staff.
